Day 27: Aswan

We start the paperwork trail for the bikes today. Well, we kind of start, there’s a massive queue for the ferry tickets, and there’s definitely tension in the air. A fixer introduces himself, and will do all the paperwork for us, including reserving us places on the ferry. All for $25 each, hmm, seems like a good deal. We leave appropriate photocopies and head off to enjoy the rest of the day, that was easy, so far...

Rob’s met some other overlanders, and we meet up with them for a few afternoon drinks. It’s quite entertaining hearing other people’s stories and comparing notes. One couple aren’t using a fixer, and whilst they’ve completed the paperwork OK, they’re struggling to get places on the ferry/barge. And it may be due to the fixers blocking them...
